Billy J. Jones

Billy Jones was born April 30, 1952, to the union of I. C. and Earlean Jones in Hiwannee, MS. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age attending New Pilgrim Baptist Church. Later in life, he joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving on the Usher board and various organizations. Billy matriculated through Wayne Central High School in Waynesboro, MS. Afterwards he obtained various certificates. After faithfully working hard for years, he retired from Chrysler Foundry. He met his best friend and brother in Christ, Larry Jefferson, as he called him Jethroe, at American Motors Company Car Dealership. He was also employed by the Indianapolis Waste Water Treatment plant for many years where he met the love of his life, Janeane J.M. Jones. Billy & Janeane were united in holy matrimony for 31 years until her passing of January 1 2024. st, Billy had a passion for the outdoors, whether it be gardening, yard work, fishing, and mechanical work. He found joy in acts of kindness. He provided shelter in his homes, dropping off food, and encouraging words of comfort. He enjoyed vacationing, especially to his hometown, Hiwannee, MS. He was always accompanied by his grandson, Prince Harry Orion Jones-Glover, whom he loved dearly. During his time there, he would be found holding his hands behind his back, as he walked down the road to visit family and friends. Billy never turned down watermelon, peanuts, and sweet potatoes. He was a collector of many things. He found treasure in people that others overlooked, even valuing common conversations with strangers. We can still hear some of the things that he said, “Lord, oh Lord this is good!” , “Ouu~Wee!” , “ ...HoneyChild!” , and “Yep! Yep! Yep!” . His family will continue to honor his legacy by celebrating cherished memories, gathering in love at family celebrations and continuous travels. Billy is preceded in death by his wife Janeane Jacqueline Motley-Jones, his parents, I.C. & Earlean Jones; brothers, George Jones, Charlie Jones and Jonathan Jones, and sisters, Marzella Grimes and Dorothy Ruth McDougle. The Lord called Billy home and he answered the call on Thursday, November 27th 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory; son, Jason Jones; daughter, China Janí Jones; grandson, Prince Harry Orion Jones-Glover; brothers, Isaiah Jones, Earnest Jones (Mary), Jerry Jones (Betty), John Jones (Melissa), Paul Jones (Ruby), Cecil Motley, Larry Jefferson (Jeanette); twin sister, Cathalean Dancy (Taylor), sister, Shirley Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends
