December 11, 1937 — January 9, 2023

Indianapolis, IN

Allan L. Duff, the 8th child of the late Samuel and Flora (Bell) Duff, was born December 11, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He attended I.P.S. John Hope School #26 and Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Indianapolis Clark College.

Allan accepted Christ at an early age at Trinity C.M.E. Church. After becoming a member, he became very active by joining the Christian Youth Fellowship and attended Leadership Training school. He served as a delegate to the District and Annual conferences and was very active with the children and youth programs. Allan traveled on several occasions as a chaperon to the National Youth and Young Adult Conferences. He was a member of the Steward Board, Young Adult Choir (renamed the Trinity Chorals), The Senior Choir (renamed the Chancel choir) and the Mass Choir. Allan was a member of the Men’s Sunday morning Bible Class, Thursday Men’s Bible Study, Amity Club, Wednesday Feeding Ministry, Community Pantry, Friday evening craft class and he worked with Trinity’s Boy Scout troop. As you can see, he loved his church.

He was employed by L. S. Ayers for many years and in 1968 became employed by then RCA which later became BMG. He retired after 30 years at BMG in 1999. He also served in the National Guard for eleven years.

Music was a passion for Allan. He loved classical music as well as symphonic music. He became a member of the Indianapolis Sounds of Music, and the Indianapolis Symphonic Praise Choir. His hobbies included watching all sports and he loved bowling.

Not only was his church important to him, but family was also very important to Allan. He became the family “taxi driver” in so many ways. Whenever he could, he was there to take family members and close friends wherever they needed to go. He never missed a family meeting, reunion, card party, or anything the family was involved in. He supported his family at all events whenever possible. He could quote dates and times of almost every birthdate of every family member or event. He loved reminiscing about the days of his childhood with his nephews and nieces. He always greeted everyone with a big smile.

Allan L. Duff departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2023 at the age of 85, surrounded by his family.  His parents; sisters: Hazel Reed, Linnie Amorez, Mildred Reed, Mary Elizabeth Duff, and Cassie Reed; brothers, Samuel Duff Jr., Walter Duff, Charles Duff, James Duff, John Duff, Walker Joseph Duff, and Myron Duff Sr. all preceded him in death.
