Roderick C. Townsend

April 13, 1963 — January 11, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

Roderick Cole Townsend was born April 13, 1963 to Isaiah Washington and Annie L. Davis in Oxford, Mississippi. Some years later, he and his mother moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. They then extended their family when John Davis married Annie L. Davis and adopted Roderick. Roderick attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.

He worked at Summerville Construction Company as a brick mason for several years. Roderick enjoyed music, playing cards, laughing and spending time with his family. The forever jokester, he had an inside joke with his mother. He would say “Linco linco”, to which she would reply, “Who loves you baby”. His random pullups and horn honks will be forever missed.

Roderick Cole Townsend departed this world on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the age of 58 years. His adopted father, John Davis; and two sons, Lavon Dixon Sr. and Dante Townsend preceded him in death.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Annie L. Davis; eight children: Britney Williams, Roderick Williams, Rodericous Townsend, Tiffany Townsend, Michael Townsend, Angel Townsend, Erica Dixon and Tanesha Banks; grandchildren: Eliza Townsend, Cole Simmons, Logan Simmons, Journei Townsend, Jordyn Townsend and Lavon Dixon Jr.; bonus daughters: Latosha Anderson (Jimmie Mack) and Nicole Morris; adopted siblings: JoAnn Barbee (Anthony), Johnny Davis, Jimmy Davis (Wanda), Terry Davis and Tyrone Davis; his cousin crew: Bobb, Cliff, Moses and Maurice; first wife, Vanessa Hanlon (Ronald); and host of bonus grandchildren, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
