October 18, 1927 ~ September 2, 2022

Born in: DeKalb, TX
Resided in: Indianapolis, IN

Octavia Elliott Crocker was born on October 18, 1927 in Dekalb, Texas to parents Hartie and Joanna Elliott.  She received her primary education through the Dekalb Public School system graduating from Dekalb High School.  Octavia was the last surviving sibling of eight children.
In her early twenties, Octavia relocated to Sacramento, California where she was united in holy matrimony to Thomas Crocker.  To this union eight children were born: Gregory, Thomas, Terria, Brenda, Shelia, Kenneth, Timothy and Christopher.  Octavia was employed by the Sacramento County Hospital and continued in the medical field for many years in various roles.
Octavia always had a love for the Lord and was a praying woman.  She became a single mother caring for her eight children and leaned on the Lord to provide.  She would pray three times a day, every day, and her children said she didn’t care how loud it was!  Octavia joined a church in Sacramento, but knew something was still missing in her life.  She felt like an outcast and her spiritual life was not being fulfilled, so she reached out for help.  One of the Elders in the church told Octavia about a woman of God in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Rosemary Redmon Cosby (Mama), who had a church where souls were receiving a double portion of the Holy Ghost.  He believed Mama could help Octavia.  Later, when Mama visited Sacramento to preach, Octavia was drawn to her and was led to pass Mama a note.  She told Mama of her situation and how she desired spiritual help.  Mama responded to Octavia’s note and God began to move.  God led Octavia to move to Salt Lake City, Utah.  Mama told Octavia she could send for her, and her whole family, and not to worry about anything.  Mama took care of everything, including a place to stay.  Octavia had never been shown so much love.
Octavia was baptized in Jesus’ name on July 10, 1979.  Mama prayed with Octavia and she received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.  Octavia knew she had finally found what her soul had been searching for.  From then on, Sis. Crocker would always proclaim and testify, “We Done Found God”!
Sis. Crocker was a faithful member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church under the pastorates of Dr. Rosemary Redmon Cosby (Mama), Bishop Robert C. Cosby and First Lady, Evang. Mary M. Cosby.  Over the years, she worked in the Church: visiting the sick and shut-in through her participation in the missionary department, working at the Southern Plantation, helping to clean the church, working with the children at the Daycare.  And, Sis. Crocker always loved All Night Prayer!  She would testify in service that “We Gotta Endure”!
Sis. Crocker remained a devoted mother no matter what she went through.  She would lean on God and never gave her children any reason to be ashamed.  She steered all her children towards God.  She would tell them after they were grown, “I told you about God and the rest is up to you”.  Her children said all she ever wanted to do was pray.
During Sis. Crocker’s final days she began talking about her life story.  She said it always stood out to her how nice Mama was, and she talked about how Bishop and Mary had continued with the same love.  She enjoyed watching the church videos and would always say how pretty Mary was.  She loved them dearly!
Sis. Octavia Crocker peacefully departed this life to take her rest on September 2, 2022 at the age of 94 years old.  She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Sis. Crocker leaves to cherish her precious memory her eight children, Gregory Crocker, Thomas Dwight Crocker, Terria Crocker, Brenda Kay Crocker-Bell, Shelia Crocker, Kenneth Crocker, Timothy Crocker and Christopher Crocker; Bishop Robert C. Cosby and First Lady, Evang. Mary M. Cosby and the entire Faith Temple Pentecostal Church Family; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, loved ones and friends.
