Mark Allen Thomas Sr.

Mark A. Thomas Sr., “MT”, was born October 19, 1961. He was the son of the late John Moreland Thomas Sr. and Wanda Lewis Thomas. Mark was the youngest of seven children.

He received his education from Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from North Central High School in 1980.

Mark attended Capital City Seventh Day Adventist Church in his youth. As a young adult he was baptized and years later received the Holy Ghost. When attending church, he fellowshipped at God’s Love Christian Church with his family.

He was united in marriage to Kimberly Ferguson on March 19, 1983. To this union five children were born: Mark Allen II, Brandon, Nathan, K. Marlena and Emily.

Mark was born into a family business-Thomas Construction Company. Working along with his father, brothers and other family members he was cross trained in most lines of the construction trades. His favorite job was being a backhoe operator. Later he became a member of the Laborer’s Union Local #120. At the time of his passing, he was again working with family at Price Construction Group, headed by his nephew.

Mark enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars from his teen years. His many skills meant he was always in demand. He was the king of side jobs, “Godfather deals” and making “quick money”. Always making plans and thinking about the next opportunity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wanda Thomas Sr.; brothers, John Jr. and Gregory Thomas; and sons, Nathan and Brandon Thomas.

He survived by his wife, Kimberly; son, Mark Allen II; daughters, K. Marlena and Emily; siblings, Donella Tatum (James), Rodney Thomas Sr. (Penny), Maria Price (Charles Sr.) and Sylvester Thomas Sr. Mark leaves many nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. We will miss him.
