December 14, 1941 — November 6, 2020

Indianapolis, IN

Marion A. Tinsley Jr., born December 14, 1941, fondly known as Marion Jr., Foots, and Paw Paw was the oldest of five born to Marion A. Tinsley Sr. and Minnie I. Black Tinsley they both preceded him in death as well as his sister Mary Etta Tinsley Jackson and Marvin L. Tinsley.

Marion was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Arsenal Tech and Crispus Attucks High School. At an early age he charted his path as a man who loved to travel and hitchhiked over 1800 miles to California. When he returned, he married Ora Mae Wilson and to this union where three children: Tanya, Damon and Antwan. They later divorced.

Marion worked with his father painting houses and was hired by General Motors and remained there for more than 45 years. Wanting to better his life he studied and became a millwright at General Motors.

He married his great love Juanita Rose and added to his family Shellie and Bernard Markey. To this union was more than 32 years. They traveled to many places. His love for adventure included white water rafting, kayaking, cycling, fishing, water skiing and playing cards with family, co-workers and friends and many more. He also loved to swim and was a swim teacher and taught his grandchildren, great nieces and nephews how to swim and was still doing flips on the diving board after the age of 60. And when he’s not doing all of that he is watching Serena Williams or enjoying his season pass to the Indianapolis Colts. Everybody knew that during a tennis match or during a game you had to let him watch.

Marion and Juanita created M & J Enterprises. They were landlords and had a landscaping business. This business was during the time he was employed by GM while working 12 hour shifts and sometimes 7 days a week. He was a hard-working family man and a builder of many things.

Marion professed his love for Christ at Living Water Fellowship Church. And recently asked his wife will he know her in heaven.

Marion leaves to mourn his wife Juanita Rose Tinsley, his daughter Tanya I. (Wayne) Cousins, his son Damon (Jeannine) Tinsley, his son Antwan (Britt) Tinsley, his daughter Shelly (Roy) Higgins and his son Bernard Markey. His two brothers Michael (Chiquita) Tinsley of Detroit and Dale Tinsley. And his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
