Born in: Indianapolis, Indiana
Resided in: Indianapolis, Indiana

It is with great joy that we celebrate the homegoing celebration of Joseph L. Jones I. Joseph departed this earthly life on October 3, 2021 at the age of 58 years old surrounded by his family.

Joseph was born on March 3, 1963 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph H. Jones and Patricia A. Harris. Joseph accepted Christ at the age of five years old under the leadership of the late Rev. L.E. Ervin, Jr. of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Joseph would later join the church family of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Joseph graduated from Emmanuel High School in 1981 where he enjoyed playing football and his love for the Indianapolis Colts displayed his passion that he still had for the sport. Joseph was employed with Allegion (formerly Von Duprin) for 31 years.

Joseph married Jonale Jones, June 2, 1990. They were high school sweethearts and shared 31 years of marriage. Joseph and Jonale have three beautiful children Deja’ Jones, Eboni Jones Wolfe and Joseph L. Jones II.

Anyone who knew Joseph, knew he had a heart of gold. He enjoyed life and enjoyed having a great time. From his smile to his infectious laugh and his warm hugs you would thoroughly enjoy his company. And those who knew his mastery on the barbeque grill was always in for a real treat!

There is no doubt our hearts are saddened but we are comforted knowing he has transitioned with his heavenly father. He was a strong fighter and you would have definitely wanted him on your team!

As he would say, “there is something about those three’s”. As he ended his journey on October 3, 2021, he already knew he would depart this earth staying consistent with the day and date (Sunday the third) that he was born on. Joseph’s legacy will be that he was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Preceding him in death and awaiting to see him were his father, Joseph H. Jones, his brother, Phillip H. Jones and his sister, Karen M. Jones.

Joseph’s loving memories will be cherished by his wife, Jonale Jones; his children, Deja’ Jones, Eboni Jones Wolfe (John) and Joseph L. Jones II; his mother, Patricia A. Harris; his grandchildren, De’Aja Reaves, Damaris Reaves, Braylon Dixon, Madison Wolfe, Halo Wolfe and John Wolfe, Jr.; his sisters, Alisa A. Jones; Mary A. Jones Shobe, Pequita A. Jones, Freda Jones Sanders (Reggie) and Daphne J. Jones Burnett (Jonathan); his brother, Johnny L. Jones, Sr. (Valerie).
