Jeffrey Lamont Green was born June 21, 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana. At an early age, through attending Sunday School, Jeffrey professed his faith in Christ and joined Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church.
Jeffrey was a huge sports fanatic. He started organized sports at age 7. He played little league football through the Dads Club of Indianapolis. Football was only the start. Once he touched a basketball it became his life passion. He continued playing throughout his formative years beginning at Municipal Gardens. On AAU teams he would travel across the United States—going as far as Puerto Rico. His team won the 9-10 year old national championship! He coined himself “Money Green,” and “J Rock,” which would later become “Hollywood” as he was a starting player for the Bishop Chatard Trojans and John Marshall Patriots varsity teams. His playing days ended when he graduated in 1984, but his love for the game remained.
Upon graduation, Jeffrey joined the United States Army. After returning home for a few years, he looked toward a new start. His skill set shifted to commercial driving. He obtained his CDL and worked for the city of South Bend. Through his employment he became heavily involved with union activities and eventually joined the NAACP where he would hold a position as an officer for his local chapter.
Jeff’s faith in God was rekindled there and he became active in several church ministries. He ultimately returned to Indianapolis where he joined Living Water Fellowship Church in 2019.
Jeffrey enjoyed keeping up with current events, re-watching classic films, having long and heartfelt phone conversations with loved ones, and getting better at his “selfie game.”
Jeffrey leaves to cherish his memory to his son, Antoine L. Green; daughter, Jazmine R. Green; grandsons, Khalil and Antoine L. Green Jr.; parents, Michael L. and Jarolyn R. (Crowe) Green Sr.; brother, Dr. Michael L. Green Jr. (Jill); sister, Monica L. Wiseman (Malcolm); a host of loving family and friends.
