Jacqueline Marie (Cleveland) Dunlap

January 31, 1935 — August 14, 2018

Jacqueline Marie (Cleveland) Dunlap, affectionately called 'Jackie', was born January 31, 1935 to Reverend Thomas and Bertha Cleveland in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the youngest of thirteen children. She received her Associate's Degree from IUPUI in Electronics. She also attended Indiana State University, where she met her future husband, Will Eugene Dunlap II. They married on March 10, 1956 and had four children, Will, Leonard, Rhonda and Rose.

Baptized at an early age, Jacqueline grew to become a dedicated servant of God. She enjoyed participating in church business and events, helping others and Jacqueline loved her church family very much.
She was gainfully employed by Howard W. Sam's, where she was the first female and African American employee in their electronics department. After retirement from Howard W. Sam's she went onto start her own Real Estate company, Dunlap Realty and she worked at Kittle's Furniture where she was top sales person for many years and won several sales awards.
Jacqueline took pride in taking care of her family. She cooked every day and never let her children eat fast food because she felt it was not nourishing enough. Her mother always cooked for her family and because of this she grew up strong and healthy, so she wanted the same for her children. Jackie was an excellent mother who was determined and strong willed and tried to instill those same virtues in her children. And her mothering extended past her children with her co-workers, clients and friends who call her Momma also.
Jacqueline Marie (Cleveland) Dunlap departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Her parents, Reverend Thomas and Bertha Cleveland; husband, Will E. Dunlap II and thirteen siblings preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life, sons, Will E. Dunlap III (Charlotte) and Leonard A. Dunlap (Yvonne); daughters, Rhonda E. Dunlap and Rose M. Dunlap-Brown (Lavalle); granddaughters, Carmen and Leia; grandsons: Emanuel, Jayson (Melissa), Will IV, Phillip and Leland; twelve great-grandchildren; nieces: Eleanor Mitchell, Sylvia Hayes, Johann Jones and Mary Elmore; nephew, William Cleveland; a host of loving relatives and friends.
