Glenda Jean Madden

Glenda Jean Madden was born Sunday, April 6, 1952, in Minter City, Mississippi. She was the little sister to one brother, but the big sister to twelve brothers and sisters whom she loved deeply.

Glenda, affectionately known as MeMe, graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1970. In her later years, she completed her goal of obtaining a college degree. She earned her Associates Degree at Ivy Tech Community College.

Glenda worked for the United States Army Finance & Accounting Center. She was later employed by Blue Cross & Blue Shields for many years until she retired in 1999. After retirement she began providing childcare to her three grandchildren, nephews and others in her home. Later she began working for True Belief Daycare. She then provided support to her niece and great-niece at Buzy Bees Daycare. Outside of work, Glenda was a carefree, high spirited, generally happy person. As her sister said, “She loved life and life loved her”! She was an avid bowler, traveler, casino patron and a lover of all sports.

Glenda Jean Madden departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Ben Palmore, mother, Elizabeth E. Palmore; brothers, Billy, Dennis and Kenneth Palmore; sisters, Elizabeth Jan and Tracy Palmore.

She leaves her “One & Only”, daughter, Bobbi Smith; granddaughter, Shaunasti Jennae Moore; grandsons, Darryl Rowie Jr. and Darrian Rowie; great-granddaughters, Evyn Moore and Eyn Moore; soon to arrive great-grandson, Cartier Tolbert to carry forth her love, charm, spunk and appreciation for life! Glenda also leaves to cherish her memories, brothers, James Lewis (Evelyn), Bobby, Ben E., Ernell (Joann) and Odell Palmore (Yolanda); sisters, Benneatha Childress (Carl), Sharon Palmore and Lisa Hicks (Gary); aunt, LeDale Woodfork; a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, great-great-nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.
