Ginnette McQueen was born July 4, 1938, to Catherine “Madea” Hooper Smith who preceded her in death in 2012. She was the eldest of 10 children.
Ethel, as she was lovingly called, spent most of her life as a housewife and had a small business preparing taxes from her home for many years.
Ginnette “Ethel” McQueen departed this life on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 84 years old in peace at the care and home of her beloved sister, Alfreida Shelton.
Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend of 54 years, Horace McQueen; her son, Leonard Hooper; sisters: Catherine Dandridge, Louise Saddler and JoAnn Payne; brother, Vincent Smith; and nephew, Hazy “Randy” Bingham whom we all miss dearly.
Ginnette “Ethel” McQueen leaves to cherish her memory her grandson, Darnell Mitchell; sisters and brothers: Virginia Johnson, Alfreida Shelton, Bernard Payne, Rosemary Bingham and Wilbert Smith; 18 nieces and nephews; and host of great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
