George (Gee) Brown, III was born November 24, 1998, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the parents of George W. Brown, Jr., and Dr. JoAnna L. Brown. Dedicated to God as an infant, Gee also confessed his faith at an early age. At the age of nine he even declared to his parents that he was going to be a preacher. He begged them to get baptized. Seeing his desire, they agreed. George was baptized at the Word Fellowship Church in 2007.
He was coined the nickname Gee-bear by his grandmother, Jackie Brown, which was later shortened to Gee, by his father. As an infant and toddler Gee loved his “Tickle pillow.” This was his special comfort pillow. He carried it everywhere he went. He enjoyed Blue’s Clues, Pokémon, Dragonball Z, the X-men, and Spider-Man.
As a child, Gee showed maturity beyond his years. So much so, his family typically referred to him as a young adult. He always wanting to be engaged in the adult conversations because as he put it, “the other kids are talking about stupid stuff.” He wanted to talk about the news.
He attended elementary school in Cincinnati, Ohio. His schools included Woodford Paideia, Schiel School for Creative and Performing Arts, and Silverton Critical Thinking Academy. After the family relocated to Indiana, George attended Riverside Junior High and Fishers High School. Although he’d say he wasn’t good at math, he was awarded several math awards, including a distinguished most advanced math award during his time at Riverside Junior High in Fishers, IN. Gee graduated from Fishers High School in 2017.
Gee always went against the norm. He liked doing his own thing, even if it went against conventional standard. He was sure that college was not the route for his life and chose other avenues of learning. Gee interned for a summer after graduating from high school at Sagamore Institute, completing graphic and web design work, all of which he self-taught himself how to do. Gee graduated from the Eleven Fifty Academy on December 21, 2018, with a web coding certificate. At the graduation ceremony, Gee received Eleven Fifty’s distinguished Integrity Award. After graduating from the academy, George interned at OneCause and Statwax and later received a full-time position as a Software Developer at Lessonly. George really enjoyed his time at his internships and Lessonly. He quickly soaked up valuable knowledge and skill sets in enhancing his developer skills. Gee leveraged this knowledge when he started his own software and web development firm in 2020, GWB Designs and Web Development. George was very a thoughtful developer and designer. He wanted to ensure that his designs were not only meaningful to the client, but really spoke to their target markets.
As he got older, Gee’s love of comics continued. He was really into comics, animation, music, and video games. George had a very critical eye when it came to all forms of art. He liked to critique movies. He enjoyed researching the making-ofs and behind the scenes for animated shows and movies because he was fascinated with the process of creating animation.
Gee had an exceptionally incredible eye for art and design. His friends note that, “George was logically brilliant when it came to having to write code and design systems,” and had “a great eye for visual design and could put together a really nice project so quickly.” Gee was a self-starter and life learner. He always was online trying to learn more about design content and methods and coding. Gee created unique designs and recently completed work on a video game SRD – Max Speed Delivery – in collaboration with his friends Elliott Groves and Erik Birch.
Gee loved to cook. He’d call his Aunt Gina for recipes. You could always find him making chicken during his late night cooking sprees. He was a deep thinker and very thoughtful and kind person. A conversationalist with a beautiful mind. He could talk for hours and most of the time with great knowledge about a multitude of different topics. Gee loved to engage in serious conversations about the things of life, politics, and world events. He really enjoyed the time he spent talking about various topics with his grandfather’s and Uncle Geoff. He was always excited when he knew he was going to see them and tried not to miss any occasions when they were in town.
George was an avid music lover. He loved Tyler the Creator, especially his last album “Call Me If You Get Lost.” Some of his favorite vocal artists were Brockhampton, A Tribe Called Quest, Fugees, The Roots, Boards of Canada, MF DOOM, and Frank Ocean. He really loved a lot of music. He and his best friend Kyle would spend a lot of the time in the video chat listening to music and talking.
Gee was unapologetically honest. If you were engaging in any activity that was questionable, Gee would definitely call you out politely and let you know you were doing something dishonest. He carried this type of integrity with him in his personal and professional life and work.
Gee had an illuminating smile that was contagious. He was very affectionate and loved to hug. He would always come up and give his mom a hug. He’d hug his brother and sister whether they welcomed it or not. He just walk-up and hug them until they told him to move back out of their personal space. He would, at times, even as a young adult, walk up and just hold his mom’s hand.
Gee was very thoughtful, caring, and giving. He wasn’t just going to go the easy route and give you a gift card. He observed what you liked and was very thoughtful and generous in his gifts and giving. Always sharing, he’d always check in with his family and friends to make sure if anyone needed anything.
In pure Gee fashion, he went against the grain when leaving us. Gee transitioned from this earthly world to be with his Heavenly Father on January 13, 2022. He leaves to celebrate his life and continue his legacy of living with a servant’s heart his parents, George and Dr. Joanna L. Brown-sister, Jacqueline C. Brown, brother, Geoffrey M. Brown, grandparents, Joseph L and Pamela V. Mitchell, Rev. George(Beverly) Brown, Sr.-aunts, Regina Mitchell and Callie (Sam) Napier, uncles, Joseph (Ivory) Mitchell, Jr. and Geoffrey W. Brown, a host of cousins, other relatives and his good friend, Kyle Resnick.
