Ethel Bell (Stewart) Adams

February 26, 1928 — April 15, 2020

Indianapolis, IN

Heaven was opened for our beloved Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend on April 15, 2020.

Ethel Bell (Stewart) Adams was born to Tobe Stewart Sr. and Lettie Spencer on February 26, 1928 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Ethel, affectionately called “Granny”, met W. L. Adams in her early adulthood and they were united in Holy Matrimony shortly after. To their union they were blessed with a daughter, Lettie.

She and her family relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she worked as a nurse at Cook County Hospital for many years before moving to Indianapolis, Indiana to continue to raise their daughter.

Ethel loved cooking, baking from scratch, listening to gospel songs, dancing and watching her “stories” as well as being spoiled by her granddaughter.  She was feisty, outspoken, caring and always willing to help those in need.

Her parents; husband; daughter; sisters: Nancy Wright, Edith Merritt and Laura Cole; brothers, Eddie and James Stewart all preceded her in death.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories to her granddaughter, Deborah Pittman Jones (Orlando); sisters, Ethel Stewart (W.C.) of Merrillville, IN and Bessie Lindsey of Battlecreek, MI; brothers, Henry Stewart (Ann) of Atlanta, GA and Tobe Stewart Jr. of Clarksdale, MS; nieces: Dyuma, Fatima and Suzy Stewart; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
