Cherry Yvonne Jones

Ms. Cherry Yvonne Jones was born November 10,1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William E. and Leniece Jones. Her parents preceded her in death.

She had worked at Western Union as a manager and at Charles Schwab. When Cherry had to go on disability, she was employed at The Care Group as Administrative Support.

Cherry accepted Christ at an early age uniting with her mother at First Samuel Baptist Church where she has remained a faithful member under Bishop Peter Fenton. Her main activity in her life was associated with her church as President and Vice-President of the Usher Board and also President of the Inspirational Choir. Cherry was also the Announcement Clerk for many years before she became ill. She was also involved with the Young Women’s Missionary for many years. Cherry encouraged the youth because she knew that this was a way to keep them engaged in a positive way. She was always willing to help others, lend a helping hand and was just a good-hearted person.

Cherry Yvonne Jones transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the age of sixty-eight years, two months and eighteen days while a patient at Methodist Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory to her family; devoted friend and caregiver, Karen Trice; and friend, Leonard Wilson Jr. She will also be lovingly remembered by her friends; The First Samuel Baptist Church family; her neighbors; and those that helped in her care.
