Charles (“Bonnie”, “Charlie” and “Paw-Paw”) L. Kennedy, Sr. was born, May 15, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Joseph Kennedy Sr and Bernice Jefferson.

Family and friends knew him as “Bonnie”, he grew up on the near East and South sides, around 15th Bellefontaine, and Hosbrook Sts., which he often fondly referred to childhood escapades. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools.

Charles, entered and served his country from 1968-1970. He received an honorable discharge from the US Army.

“Charlie” came home and began working for McKelvey Kell Carpet Cleaning Company, he worked there for over 25 years, as a carpet and furniture cleaner.

“Charlie” then worked for Stone Container as a machine operator, for several years until that company closed.

“Charlie” then worked for Walmart Warehouse, until his illness prevented him from doing so.

“Charlie” enjoyed his friendships, through his jobs over the years, Melvin, Tony, Hollywood, The Trotters, Jerry Ball, Bill, to name a few.

“Charles” was an avid reader; he was also a history and sports enthusiast.

“Bonnie” loved playing cards, which he did almost every weekend at grandmas’ home on 34th & New Jersey with many of his cousins, aunts and uncles!

In addition, he had a passion for the “Lottery” he called someone daily to go get his lottery tickets, White Castle Coffee and a morning paper…EVERYDAY!!!

To his nieces and nephews, he was lovingly known as “Uncle Bonnie”

“Paw Paw” as he was affectionally known by his grandchildren, he recently became “Great-grand PawPaw”, however never met Charles IV, the newest addition!!

Charles Kennedy, departed this life on Wednesday February 22, 2023, at age 74, at Community Hospital East.

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kennedy Sr, Mother, Bernice Jefferson Clark, Siblings, Joseph Kennedy Jr, Michael Kennedy, Anthony Kennedy Sr, Brennetta Palmer, Dennis Turentine Sr, Gordon Turentine Jr.

Charles leaves his loving family, 3 Children, Charles L (Tanisha) Kennedy Jr, Michael (Lisa) Adair, Tina (Bumni) Egunjobi, three grandchildren Charles L Kennedy III, Delia Kennedy, Christian Kennedy, one Great-grand son , Charles L Kennedy IV, One brother, Preston Ritchie Jr., 1 Sister, Jenny Clark, 1 aunt, Marjorie Johnson, Ex-Wife, Delores Braxton-Kennedy, 2 sisters-in-law, Doris Crenshaw, Debbie (Calvin Sr) Gowdy, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
