Carlene was born to Willie and Dorothy Mitchell on May 11, 1935, in Nashville Tennessee.

Carlene graduated from Pearl High School in 1953 at the age of 18. Carlene was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Nashville, TN where she attended for several years.

Carlene worked as a nurse’s assistant at Robert Long hospital for several years. Later in Life Carlene worked for American United Life Insurance Company in Environmental Services, where she later retired after 20 years of service, 1998.

Carlene was receded in death by her parents Willie and Dorothy Mitchell, siblings Willie Mitchell Jr., Sarah McLaurine, Mary Lyons-Burks, and son’s Reginald Cobb and Duncan Cobb.

Carlene leaves behind siblings Margret Snorten Stanton(TN), Gary Wayne Mitchell(Spain), and Mary Louis Lowe(TN).

Carlene joined in marriage in 1953 to Willie Lewis Cobb. Carlene started her family in 1955 and had 8 children. Reginald Cobb, Carmel Tatum, Ronald Cobb, Wilfred Cobb, Camille Mundy, Carla Cobb, Duncan Cobb, and Crystal Brooks. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren; Robert Tatum Jr., Christina Mundy, Cheneah Tatum, Summer Bess, Joseph Tatum, Jeffery Mundy Jr., Maurice Tatum, Carlene Bess, Carressa Cole, Chakirah Cole, Dwayne Stephens, Ivory Cobb, and Jamir Cobb/ Harrington ; 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Carlene loved the Lord she was the best mother any of her children could ask for. She took great pride in raising her children. She was a mother and grandmother that didn’t play about her children and great grandchildren. Carlene had those dancing feet. She loved dancing the night away listening to any music but mainly the Blues. All Carlene needed was a beat and would get to moving. She always enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
