Resided in: Indianapolis, IN

Carl Edward Childress Jr. fell asleep in death peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was born on June 26, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Elaine Smith; father, Carl Childress Sr.; son, Carl Edward Childress III and stepfather, Andrew ‘Sonny’ Smith.

Carl was married to Benneatha Palmore on September 25, 1981, recently celebrating 40 years of marriage. Carl worked for INDOT for eight years. He was also employed at Digital Technologies for 20 years and most recently at O’Reilly Auto Parts. He enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers for many years. He enjoyed having Bible discussions and he studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved what he was learning from the Bible including the hope of a better life on a renewed earth spoken of at Revelations 21:3-5, Acts 24:15 and many other scriptures in the Bible that speak of this hope. Jeremiah 32:17 says: ‘Nothing is too wonderful for Jehovah?”. This includes the resurrection Jesus spoke of at John 5:28, 29. Also Genesis 2:7 and Ecclesiastes 12:7 which speaks of the condition of our loved ones in death. To learn more about this wonderful hope please feel free to discuss this with a Jehovah’s Witness you may know.

Those cherishing his memory are his wife, Benneatha Childress; daughter, Tracye Childress; son, Jason Childress (Jeannine); daughter, Leandra Childress; three grandchildren: Kristopher, Daeja and Jai’la; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Bryson; three siblings: Darrell Edwin Childress, Juanita Coleman and Andrew “George” Smith; a host of other relatives and friends.
