ALBERTA HUGHES, lovingly known as “Ms. A” and “The Ticket Lady”, was born December 7, 1944 to James Galloway and Margaret Molyneaux in Davy Hill, Montserrat, British West Indies.  She was the fourth (4th) out of nine children born.

ALBERTA was raised by her beloved grandmother, Ms. Ellen, and attended primary and secondary school in the Caribbean.  After leaving Montserrat, she moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Island where she met and married Gordon V. ALBERTA accepted JESUS Christ in her life in her early thirties.  She was a member of Phillips Temple CME Church where Oliver D. Walker is the Pastor.  At the Temple, she served on the Stewardess Board.

ALBERTA was employed with MSD Warren Township for over twenty (20+) years as a school Bus Driver.  As a lover of sports, Alberta worked for Lucas Oil Stadium, the Indianapolis Colts as well as MSD Warren Township Athletic Department.  She enjoyed her jobs and loved the people she came in contact with.

  1. Ms. A will be missed tremendously! Such a beautiful soul inside and out!
Our deepest sympathies to the entire family.

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying that God gives you strength and that he keeps your spirits lifted during this time.

  3. This just blew my mind when I seen it, Mrs. Hughes was my bus driver and then years later after getting grown, having kids I ran back into her and she got me on at Warren driving buses. Mrs. Hughes never change, she didn’t play when I was young and she was still running that bus. A true woman of God, she will be sadly missed. Praying for comfort and strength.

  4. Our deepest Sympathy in the lost of Alberta . She is gone but never forgotten. She was a very dear cousin and friend, we all grew up in the same village of Davy Hill, Montserrat.
    She will be missed.
From all her cousins here in Canada and England and those still in Montserrat.
Islyn, Hilda, Vilma, Melvin in Canada, Geneve and Dudley in Montserrat and Claudie in England.

  5. Gordon and Wilma, Sandy and I are deeply taken back with your terrible loss. You folks will survive because God will keep you and comfort you through your strength with Him Almighty. God simply reached his hand out and led her into his Kingdom and I’m sure he received her saying, ” well done faithful servant”. We love you guys so much.

  6. I worked several years with her at sporting events. She was a friend. It will not be the same without her.
My sympathy and prayers to your family!

  7. Dear Gordon and Wilma, Bob and I are so sorry to learn of Alberta’s passing. We haven’t been in touch with her in many years but we have talked many times about Alberta and the “bus driver” group that had so much of fun….going out to breakfast after our morning routes or meeting for lunch before our afternoon routes. And those hot days when the “girls” came to our home between routes for swimming in our backyard pool and sharing sack lunches. I remember talking about our daughters, Wilma and Lynne and how they excelled at track events.
Our prayers are with you both and your entire family. God Bless.
    Sincerely, Betty and Bob Coval

  8. “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Praying that God will comfort and keep you, Hughes and Sabatino family during this sad time. Sending you lots of love from Boston. – Angela
